When a member says they have paid
What the "I've paid" button does on a member's page, and how to confirm the payment or say you cannot find it.
A member can open their own private page and press I've paid next to their dues. This does not record a payment. It leaves you a note, so you know to look.
What you see
On the Dues page, a card called Members say they have paid lists each note with the member, the date, how they said they paid and anything they wrote. The member's row also carries a "claimed" badge. The same note shows at the top of that member's dues page.
What to do
Check your bank statement or cash book, then:
- Confirm records the amount owed as paid, with a receipt number, and the note is closed.
- Not found (on the member's page it reads I can't find it) closes the note without recording anything. The line stays unpaid.
- Another amount opens the member's dues page, where you can record a different sum.
Nothing is recorded until you press one of these. The line stays unpaid until you confirm.
How the member gets there
The member opens their private data page: they ask for a link at /my-data, using their email address, and the link they receive opens a page that lasts 30 minutes. The dues card shows what they owe, how to pay and their reference. See what a member can do on their own page.
Limits
- One open note per dues line: pressing the button twice does not make two.
- A member with no email cannot reach this page, so their payment is for you to record.
- The note is for your own records; the member is not sent anything when you press Not found. If it matters, tell them.
