Change a member's level or renewal date
How to move a member to another level, set their own renewal date, and why the line shows adjustments instead of silent changes.
Everything about one member's dues is on their dues page. Open Dues, then press the member's name or open them from the roll and follow the dues link.
Change their level
- On the member's dues page, find the Level box.
- Choose the new level and press Set level.
The line is not rewritten. The difference between the two levels is written on it as an adjustment with a note saying what changed, who changed it and when. If the new level prorates by month and the change falls inside the term, the difference is cut by the whole months left. A line that was paid in full and now asks for more is opened again for the balance. A line paid in full that now asks for less shows a credit.
Set their own renewal date
Levels that renew on the anniversary of joining use each member's own date. The Renewal date box shows the date it is using, which is by default the day they joined. To change it, enter the date and press Save renewal date. If an old system's renewal date came in with your import, the page tells you so: "From your old system".
Dues of a person named on a household
A person named on someone's household line has no line of their own. Change the payer's level, not theirs. See households.
Why adjustments rather than editing
An officer can always see why a number is what it is. Every adjustment has a note and a name, so a treasurer who takes over, or an auditor, can follow it. Past years stay exactly as they were.
