My club is read-only
What read-only means, what still works, how to open the club again, and what to do first.
A read-only club is one whose subscription has ended, or whose payment stayed unpaid for 14 days. A bar at the top of every page says so: "The subscription has ended, so this workspace is read-only: every record is kept."
What still works
- Reading everything. The roll, dues, payments, newsletters, the audit log, every page of the workspace.
- Downloading everything. The Download everything (ZIP) button works, in this state too. See export everything.
- Signing in. Everyone can still sign in and look.
- Members' own pages. A member can still see their own data and ask for a link.
What stops
Every change is refused with one sentence naming the next step: saving a member, recording a payment, sending a newsletter, publishing, inviting someone, editing the site. Reminders are not sent. Your public website pages stay as they were. Nothing is deleted, and nothing is lost.
How to open it again
Subscribe again: use the button on the Billing page or the pricing page. The moment the payment goes through, the club opens by itself, exactly as you left it. If it was a failed payment that lapsed it, a payment going through is enough, and Stripe's own retry may do it without you.
If you did not expect this
Look at Billing first. It says when the club became read-only and why. If a payment failed, see what happens if a payment fails. If it says you paid and the club is still read-only, sign out and in again, and tell us.
Before anything else
