Add events to your calendar
How to put a meeting, outing or concert on the calendar, hide it, delete it safely, and bring a deleted one back.
Type an event once, and it shows wherever your club talks about what is coming up.
Add one
- Open Events.
- In the card Add an event, fill in a title, a date, a location and a description.
- Leave Published on the site and in the newsletter ticked if you want people to see it.
- Press Add event.
The list under The calendar shows each event with its date, where it is, whether it is upcoming or past, and whether it is published or hidden.
Where it appears
- Your website. The Events section of the home page lists the next published events, and the Events page lists them all. If there are none, neither shows.
- Your newsletters. The "coming up" block in the composer lists your published events. When an issue is sent, its events are frozen into the issue, so the sent text stays a true record of what members were told even if you later change the calendar.
Change or hide one
Click an event's title to edit it, then press Save event. To hide an event without deleting it, untick the published box. A hidden event is on the calendar for you, and nowhere else.
Dates
An event has a date, not a time of day: put the time in the description ("7.30 pm, doors open at 7").
Past events
A past event stays on the calendar, marked "past", and drops out of the "coming up" lists on its own. If you do not want it on the calendar at all, delete it.
Delete an event
Open the event and press Delete this event. The next page says exactly what will happen before anything does: whether the event comes off your website, that it leaves the "coming up" block of newsletters you write from now on, and that newsletters already sent keep it, because they are the record of what members received. Press the red button to delete it, or Keep it to go back.
A deleted event is not erased. It moves to the card Deleted events at the foot of the Events page, out of your website, your newsletters and the export, and Restore puts it back exactly as it was. Your name and the time go in the audit log. The owner, officers and editors can delete events; a treasurer, membership secretary or read-only login cannot.
